What is Breast Augmentation?

Breast augmentation surgery is a procedure that adds volume to breasts to result in a fuller look. It is known as one of the most popular cosmetic surgeries, providing women who are unhappy with the look of their breasts an effective opportunity for improvement. Using either implants or a fat transfer, this cosmetic treatment improves breast shape and size and produces an attractive and youthful outcome. Central Texas plastic surgeon Dr. Staci Hix-Hernandez is experienced in executing this treatment for her patients and performs numerous breast augmentations at her accredited OR at her Cedar Park, TX location every year. When you have your consultation at one of our four Beleza Surgery locations in Cedar Park, Round Rock, Austin, or Killeen, TX, Dr. Hix-Hernandez will assess your concerns and desires and educate you on all of the options available while also customizing a treatment plan to exceed your personal goals.

What Can I Expect from My Breast Augmentation?

Breast augmentation is an outpatient procedure using general anesthesia. At the start of the procedure, an incision is created and then the implant will be slipped into its position. There are a couple of methods that we may use for implant placement. These are either under the pectoral muscle or submammary/subglandular placement (over the pec muscle). Where to place the implant is based on numerous factors, including the size and type of implant, along with the opinion of Dr. Hix-Hernandez. Regardless of the incision, scarring is often hidden within the natural creases and lines of the body. Following the placement of the implant, the incision is closed with skin adhesives or sutures. From there, you will be taken into recovery and carefully monitored prior to being released. You will be instructed to continue wearing a medical sports bra to assist with swelling. Within a few days, the swelling will begin to decrease, and your breasts will start to look and feel normal as they fall into their new position. Most patients can resume normal activities within the first week; however, exercise should be delayed for at least a couple of months. This surgery produces gorgeous outcomes that feel and appear both normal and natural.

Breast Augmentation FAQ

How much does breast augmentation cost?
Your total cost for breast augmentation will vary based on your implant choices and if you are getting any other surgeries at the same time. As soon as your treatment plan is made, Dr. Hix-Hernandez can go over estimated costs as well as financing options. To make sure your results match your goals and last a long time, it's better to focus on quality over low costs.

Do I need a breast lift or augmentation?
Your plan may include breast augmentation, a lift, or both. Breast lift surgery removes loose skin and improves the position of the breasts, while implants addresses the size and shape. In your consultation with Dr. Hix-Hernandez, she will listen to your concerns and goals before explaining your treatment options. A combination augmentation and lift are often included in a mommy makeover to revitalize the breasts after breastfeeding and pregnancy.

Can I have my implants removed?
You may decide at some point that you want to remove or replace your implants. If this happens, Dr. Hix-Hernandez can perform breast revision surgery. During the revision surgery, your current implants will be either replaced with new implants or simply removed. If you want to have your implants removed, you might need to have a breast lift because larger implants may stretch your skin. For any concerns or questions after your breast augmentation surgery, schedule a consultation at Beleza Surgery to discuss your options.
