What is a Facelift?
A facelift is a plastic surgery procedure designed to deal with the aging face. Requiring general anesthesia, the facelift utilizes large incisions to remove sagging skin and tighten the remaining skin. The traditional facelift can give dramatic results but has many drawbacks. Besides the scars, expense and downtime, the results of the facelift do not address true signs of aging like wrinkles and loss of volume. The liquid facelift uses office based procedures like Botox and Juvederm to not only address the real signs of aging, but with much less pain, no downtime and at much lest cost.
What is Liquid FaceLift?
The liquid facelift is a non-surgical procedure which relies on injections of dermal fillers and injectables to achieve results comparable to surgical facelifts. Fillers and other injectables, such as Botox, are used to fill hollows and plump features such as cheeks, to reduce or eliminate lines and wrinkles, and to firm skin, resulting in an overall rejuvenated, more youthful appearance. Since the liquid facelift actually addresses the true signs of aging, many find its results much more natural than the traditional facelift.
Liquid Facelift: Botox Injections
The basic concept is first to use Botox or Dysport to relax the muscles of facial expression that causes wrinkles. As we can see in the picture, these areas include the frown lines (glabella), crow’s feet, forehead lines, lip lines and several other areas. Utilizing several very small needles, a few painless injections can relax years of expressive lines and wrinkles.

Liquid FaceLift: Volume Restoration with Dermal Fillers
The other major component of the liquid face lift is to restore volume and contour. As we age, we gradually lose skin thickness, fat and bone in our faces that causes a sunken and droopy appearance. Luckily we have several tools to restore this volume. Dermal fillers like the hyaluronic acids, Juvederm and Restylane and Perlane, and the stimulatory fillers like Radiesse and Sculptra, are safe and readily available. Almost all of them are now premixed with lidocaine so the injections are much less painful. The fillers can be used to rebuild the cheek bones, fill the areas under the eyes, rebuild the brow and plump the lips. Restoring cheek volume alone can dramatically change your appearance. The filled cheeks can hide under-eye bags, restore the contour of the cheek and provide a lifting effect for the mid-face. The fillers can cause some post-procedure bruising and swelling that will resolve over several days.
Liquid Facelift: Fat Transfer
Becoming even more popular is using fat transfer for filling. Small amounts of fat can be harvested from almost anywhere on the body and transplanted to the face. Besides the natural filling by the fat, the fat is rich in stem cells which retain the ability to transform into other cell types. These stem cells can produce new skin cells, fat cells and maybe even new bone. So fat transfer holds the promise of potentially being a fountain of youth! So the liquid face lift utilizes very safe and easily performed procedures with minimal downtime. Performed in office without the need for any extensive anesthesia. In return, you get a freshened and rejuvenated appearance that can last for years. Since it is considerably cheaper than surgery, it can be repeated multiple times to maintain that youthful appearance!
Liquid Facelift Cost
With a traditional facelift costing close to $20,000, the liquid facelift cost is very inexpensive in contrast. Utilizing Botox injections and Juvederm fillers, the average liquid facelift cost is several thousand dollars.
