About KYBELLA®
Kybella is the first and only non-surgical treatment approved by the FDA for contouring and improving the appearance of the double chin (submental fullness). Kybella is injected into the fat beneath the chin, where deoxycholic acid is able to destroy fat cells, leading to a noticeable reduction in fullness under the chin. Once destroyed, these cells are no longer able to store or accumulate fat. This can improve your appearance your meet your aesthetic goals.
What Is KYBELLA®?
Kybella’s active ingredient is synthetic deoxycholic acid. This acid occurs naturally as a molecule in the body to aid in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat.
Kybella only treats fat cells, and once destroyed, your body will get rid of the fat cells through its metabolic processes. This can lead to prevention of future fat accumulation since the fat cells will be destroyed.
How is KYBELLA® Administered?
Kybella injection treatment can only be administered by a Kybella-trained healthcare specialist. At each treatment, you will receive multiple small injections under your chine, and the injection process can take about 15 to 20 minutes.

- How much does KYBELLA® cost?
- KYBELLA treatment costs will depend on how many treatments are needed. During your initial consultation, a personalized treatment plan will be created to work with your budget and goals. A member of our team can also review the payments we accept during your first appointment.
- How does KYBELLA® work?
- Deoxycholic acid, the active ingredient in KYBELLA, is designed to break down fat cells in the upper neck. Once they are destroyed, these fat cells will not regenerate. Therefore, additional injections shouldn't be needed as soon as you have reached your desired outcome.
- Can KYBELLA® be used to treat other areas of the body?
- Currently, KYBELLA may only be used to treat the submental area. KYBELLA can effectively reduce the appearance of a double chin. KYBELLA has not been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for any other areas of the face or body.
- What are the side effects of KYBELLA®?
- Patients may experience swelling, pain, numbness, redness, and areas of hardness in the treatment area. These are not all the possible side effects of KYBELLA.
- How many KYBELLA® treatments will I need?
- The number of KYBELLA treatments and individual needs varies from patient to patient since everyone’s chin profile is different. Our experienced injectors will create a specialized treatment plan for you during the complimentary consultation to help determine how many treatment sessions you need based on the amount and distribution of your submental fat and personal treatment goals.
- Am I eligible for a KYBELLA® treatment?
- There are a few factors that could make you ineligible to receive a KYBELLA treatment. You need to be at least 18 years old, not breastfeeding or pregnant, and cannot have an active infection in or around the treatment site. Before the procedure is performed, you are encouraged to share your medical history and health concerns with your injector so that they can decide if you can safely receive the treatment.
