"Writing this review solely on my consultation with Dusky. I came in today for a breast augmentation consultation. I indicated on my paperwork that I am currently taking a particular medication. Turns out, I’ll need to wait a year until I’d be eligible for surgery. Am I a Good Candidate for Liposuction?
To determine if liposuction is right for you, schedule a consultation at Beleza Surgery. But in general, good candidates for liposuction include:

Individuals who are in good general health

What Can I Expect from Liposuction?
Liposuction is performed as an outpatient procedure at our accredited OR in our Cedar Park, TX office while you are under general anesthesia. Based on the areas being treated, your procedure could take several hours. A very small incision is placed in the skin so a cannula can be placed. The cannula is a tube that helps loosen the fatty tissue that is being removed. After the desired amount of fat deposits have been removed, Dr. Staci Hix-Hernandez will close the incision. In the separate recovery area, your post-op team will assist you with managing any pain and care for your treated areas until you are discharged. You may need to recover at home for several weeks based on your treatment. It's typical to see bruising and swelling for one or two weeks, and you can have sutures removed somewhere after 7 – 10 days.
The most important thing to do after having lipo is to allow your body time to rest and recover. When you are ready to return to your job, you should remember to minimize stress and strenuous activity. To build up your strength and stamina, try walking and light workouts as advised by Dr. Hix-Hernandez. You may notice some changes soon after your surgery, but it takes around 6 – 10 months until your new body contour and shape are fully attained.

- How much does liposuction cost?
- Your cost for liposuction varies based on the technique being used and how many areas are being addressed. In your consultation, Dr. Hix-Hernandez will create your custom liposuction surgical plan based on your needs and goals. She will also consider your budget. When your plan is developed, estimated costs will be discussed. - What about nonsurgical liposuction?
- There are many nonsurgical options to reduce body fat. Some of the most popular brands include CoolSculpting® and KYBELLA®. While some of these nonsurgical treatments can help some patients reduce mild to moderate fat pockets, surgical liposuction is still best for most people. Liposuction surgery delivers more consistent and dramatic results. Talk to Dr. Hix-Hernandez about nonsurgical lipo during your consultation. She can explain the benefits and drawbacks of all your options and help you choose which is best for your needs and goals.
- What about cellulite and loose skin?
- Surgical liposuction only addresses excess fat. If you have loose skin, Dr. Hix-Hernandez may suggest combining liposuction with a surgical body lift. Liposuction is often performed with skin tightening surgery, such as a tummy tuck, thighplasty, or arm lift, to produce the best results. - Will I have scars?
- Since liposuction is a surgical procedure, incisions will be made and sutured. These will create scars; however, Dr. Hix-Hernandez does her best to reduce their appearance. This starts with making thin incisions in less visible areas or the natural folds of your body. After your surgery, Dr. Hix-Hernandez or a member of her team will explain how to care for your incisions — so they heal flat and eventually fade.
- Will my results last?
- Before you have liposuction surgery, it is important to be prepared to maintain your results. Although liposuction reduces the number of fat cells in an area, you can still gain and lose weight. Dr. Hix-Hernandez suggests that you be at or close to a healthy weight before having liposuction surgery. Afterward, it's best to remain within 5 – 10 pounds of your post-surgical weight. Pregnancy after liposuction will also alter your results; however, a second surgery or mommy makeover can be done to refresh your body.
