How Kybella Works?

Kybella is a synthetic form of a naturally occuring chemical produced by the body. This chemical, deoxycholic acid, is a bile salt that helps to digest fats. When injected into the area under the chin, it appears to cause the removal of fat cells. This leads to a visible reduction in submental fullness, also known as a double chin.

The Kybella injection sites are carefully mapped out before starting the procedure. During the 15-20 minute procedure, multiple small injections are made into the area under the chin. After the procedure is completed, your are free to return to normal activities.

Does Kybella Work?

Yes, but it depends on how much fat you have and the results you desire. Kybella treatments can be repeated every month for up to 6 treatments. Of course, with more treatments you get more results. Patients who have more fat will require more kybella treatments.

Kybella is an injectable drug administered in office. It is FDA approved for moderate to severe submental fat (double chin). In an approximately 15 minute procedure, a series of small injections are made into the double chin fat. Kybella consists of a naturally occurring compound, deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid is manufactured by the body to help digest fat. When injected into fat, Kybella causes the destruction of fat cells. What is the Kybella Cost?

Kybella is sold by the vial. Each Kybella treatment session may require 1-3 vials, so fees may be $800-$1,000 per session. This may seem costly, but surgery is more expensive, requires an operating room and has more downtime. In-office Kybella chin treatments are far less expensive, safer and easy to repeat.
