Kybella, An In-Office Procedure to Get Rid of Double Chins!
How Kybella Works?
Kybella is a synthetic form of a naturally occuring chemical produced by the body. This chemical, deoxycholic acid, is a bile salt that helps to digest fats. When injected into the area under the chin, it appears to cause the removal of fat cells. This leads to a visible reduction in submental fullness, also known as a double chin.
The Kybella injection sites are carefully mapped out before starting the procedure. During the 15-20 minute procedure, multiple small injections are made into the area under the chin. After the procedure is completed, your are free to return to normal activities.
Does Kybella Work?
Yes, but it depends on how much fat you have and the results you desire. Kybella treatments can be repeated every month for up to 6 treatments. Of course, with more treatments you get more results. Patients who have more fat will require more kybella treatments.
Kybella: Fast, Safe Injectable Treatment for Double Chins.*
Kybella is an injectable drug administered in office. It is FDA approved for moderate to severe submental fat (double chin). In an approximately 15 minute procedure, a series of small injections are made into the double chin fat. Kybella consists of a naturally occurring compound, deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid is manufactured by the body to help digest fat. When injected into fat, Kybella causes the destruction of fat cells. After 2-3 treatment sessions spaced at least a month apart, visible reduction of submental fat can be noticed.
What are Kybella Side Effects & Kybella Recovery?
When administered properly, Kybella injections are very safe. The most common side effects are swelling, bruising, pain, numbness, redness and areas of hardness around the treatment area. These are not all of the possible side effects of Kybella. Most of these Kybella side effects resolve over several days to a week. Usually, Kybella recovery takes about a week as the swelling resolves.
What is Kybella Swelling?
The main side effect many patients will experience is Kybella swelling. Kybella swelling usually peaks after 24 hours and resolves after 48 hours. Some patients that have received more Kybella injections, may experience swelling for a longer period of time. Although you make look worse for a while, the Kybella swelling shows that it is working.
How long can Kybella Chin Injections last?
Kybella injections destroys the submental (under chin) fat cells. So the results are long-lasting. Once acceptable results are obtained, no further treatments are necessary. Of course, significant weight gain and aging can affect the results.
What is the Kybella Cost?
Kybella is sold by the vial. Each Kybella treatment session may require 1-3 vials, so fees may be $800-$1,000 per session. This may seem costly, but surgery is more expensive, requires an operating room and has more downtime. In-office Kybella chin treatments are far less expensive, safer and easy to repeat.
