While facials, cosmetic injectables, and even laser treatments are typically considered safe and appropriate for most patients, there are a few things you’ll need to know when deciding on the timing and frequency of your appointments. At Beleza Surgery in Cedar Park, Austin, Round Rock, and Killeen, TX, our expert team of providers can help you better understand which treatments may need to be scheduled before others – and why – so that you can plan accordingly and avoid “dead time” between treatments. In this blog, we will cover everything you need to know about scheduling two of our most popular offerings – BOTOX and facials – including which one should be done first, how long you’ll need to wait between treatments, why it matters, and what results you can expect.

Can I get BOTOX and a facial at the same time?

The injectable wrinkle relaxer BOTOX remains one of the most in-demand products available today, helping countless patients to smooth out dynamic lines and wrinkles and restore a more youthful look. At the same time, facials are also one of the most sought-after treatment categories and offer a variety of benefits, including a clearer complexion, more even skin tone, and healthier, more youthful-looking skin overall. Generally speaking, most patients schedule appointments for cosmetic injectables – like BOTOX or fillers – at a separate time than skin rejuvenation appointments. During your initial consultation for facials or injectables in the Austin/Round Rock/Killeen areas, one of our knowledgeable team members will discuss your concerns and goals, explain your options at length, and help determine the most appropriate timing for your treatment(s).

How soon can I get a facial after BOTOX?

Almost immediately after BOTOX injections, patients should avoid touching, rubbing, or massaging their faces. Even sleeping with your face directly against a pillow may cause the inadvertent migration of BOTOX to other areas of the face, resulting in an unwanted cosmetic outcome. With this in mind, it is also recommended that patients wait at least 24 – 48 hours after BOTOX injections to have a facial performed. However, certain types of facials and/or laser treatments may require an even longer waiting period after BOTOX. These include:

For these more extensive facial rejuvenation treatments, patients may need to wait up to 2 – 4 weeks after BOTOX injections to schedule their appointment. For this reason, many patients choose to have their facial or facial laser treatments just prior to BOTOX injections. This obviates the need for an extended waiting period, or “dead time” between desired treatments, and helps patients achieve their ultimate goals more quickly and conveniently.

How long after fillers can I get a facial?

Again, it may be more advantageous to schedule your facial just before your filler appointment to avoid losing time between treatments. If you have already had your fillers injected, however, you may need to wait up to 2 – 4 weeks before undergoing certain facial treatments. If you have questions about how your desired treatments may interact with any recent cosmetic injections or other procedures you may have had performed, don’t hesitate to ask one of our expert providers.
